The premium electric car brand Zeekr, owned by the Chinese holding Geely, presented the top FR version of the flagship liftback 001; its main competitor is the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The Zeekr brand was launched in 2021 and today is one of the growth leaders in the Chinese market: its sales in the first three quarters of this year, according to Geely, amounted to 66,975 cars, which is 115% more than in January-August 2022. th. The large Zeekr 001 liftback on the SEA platform became the debut model of the brand, and it was also the first to receive powerful sports doping. The letters FR stand for Future Roads, which translated into Russian means “roads of the future.”
The regular Zeekr 001 with a dual-motor power plant produces a maximum of 544 hp, while the FR version has four electric motors (one per wheel) with a total power of 1265 hp. (2 x 155 kW front and 2 x 310 kW rear). The three-motor powerplant of the Tesla Model S Plaid, which appeared for comparison in Zeekr presentation slides, produces “only” 1020 hp. The top Sapphire version of the American Lucid Air sedan, as recently revealed, has a power of 1251 hp. In general, the Chinese model turned out to have more “muscles” than its main competitors.
Four independent electric motors allow the Zeekr 001 FR to perform a so-called “tank turn” on the spot around a vertical axis, as some electric SUVs (for example, Rivian) can do, but for a sports car there is no practical sense in this exercise. Individual wheel traction control however allows the Zeekr 001 FR to corner more accurately and quickly.
From the outside, the Zeekr 001 FR is easily identified by its more aggressive bumper design than other versions and its carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit (massive front spoiler, door sills, extended rear diffuser, rear wing). The interior is almost entirely upholstered in gray and red suede, the front is equipped with sports seats with extensive lateral support, and the steering wheel with a red center position mark is flattened not only at the bottom, but also at the top.
