Volkswagen presented the third generation of Tiguan, the brand’s press service said in a statement. The car will go on sale in the first quarter of 2024.
The car received a new body design with original optics at the front and rear, which are visually combined into a single element thanks to LED strips. The company also notes noticeably improved aerodynamics. Thus, the drag coefficient decreased from 0.33 to 0.28.
The interior has also changed. Tiguan has a minimalist front panel, which integrates a 15-inch diagonal multimedia system screen. In front of the driver there is a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and a digital instrument panel.
The next generation of Tiguan is based on the MQB evo platform, on which the Passat, Tavendor and Talagon models are based. Thanks to the new chassis, the car received an improved adaptive suspension with two-valve shock absorbers.
Gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines will be available as power plants. At the same time, there will be two variants of hybrids: mild (with 48-volt starter-generators) and plug-in hybrids with full electric motors. Technical characteristics have not yet been disclosed, but it is known that the car will be able to travel up to 100 km on electric power.
