A unique yacht designed by BMW was put up for auction. It was designed by BMW Designworks. The futuristic ship, built last year at the German shipyard Tyde, is being sold at the online auction SBX Cars. This unusual yacht was created in a single copy. Despite its unique appearance, the electric trimaran is fully functional and ready for use.
The futuristic yacht The Icon has a trimaran-shaped hull with a spacious superstructure offering panoramic views. The living compartment contains several seating areas, a control station and a 32-inch display, the interface of which is based on the BMW Operating System 8 operating system. Its functionality can be controlled using voice commands.
In the design of The Icon, engineers used hydrofoils, which save up to 80 percent of energy. The yacht is propelled by two electric motors of 136 horsepower each. The 240-kilowatt-hour battery from the BMW i3 electric car allows the vessel to travel about 90 kilometers. The maximum speed of the yacht on the water reaches 50 kilometers per hour.
