The Japanese division of BMW has unveiled a special version of the X7 crossover called Nishiki Lounge. The main difference of the new product is its unique interior trim, made using a number of traditional Japanese craft techniques. The crossover is considered a concept and will not go on sale, but from February 10 to March 3 it will be exhibited at the newest BMW dealership in Tokyo.
The two-tone body paint option is not available for regular X7s on the Japanese market, but the Nishiki Lounge is designed in the style of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan – with a dark blue lower part and a silver top. The headlights are decorated with Swarovski crystals.
The interior of the crossover, according to the creators, should create a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere. To achieve this, some surfaces of the front panel are covered with a pattern using the goshiki gingasane technique. Japanese craftsmen use several types of foil and varnish in special combinations for such patterns. The central armrest is covered with a material hand-woven from threads and leather strips. On the floor there are rugs, also hand-made using the traditional kasuri technique from seven types of twisted yarn, where each thread is made from five more different colors.
An additional decoration of the X7 Nishiki Lounge interior is the ceiling with a “starry sky” effect, which was achieved using 15 thousand diodes.
