Bugatti allowed the owners of the Chiron hypercar to accelerate to 400 kilometers per hour. The maximum speed of the Bugatti Chiron hypercar is electronically limited to 420 kilometers per hour, the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport version can accelerate to 440 kilometers per hour, and the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ modification can reach 480 kilometers per hour. True, usually car owners do not have such an opportunity, since a fairly long straight section of road is required, which is unrealistic to find under normal conditions.
The French automaker hosted a unique event for select brand customers at the John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida – it took place right on a five-kilometer stretch of the runway, which was created to receive returning shuttles from space.
Behind the wheel of the 1600-horsepower Bugatti Chiron Super Sport, 18 Bugatti owners staged a top speed chase of 400 kilometers per hour. For the participants of the races, the official test pilot of the brand conducted a safety briefing, after which starts were held for two days.
Potentially, the Chiron Super Sport could go faster, but the length of the track was only enough to accelerate to 403 kilometers per hour. As a result of the event, all its participants received individual Bugatti racing overalls with an embroidered pilot’s name and a unique Bugatti racing helmet with a reminder of the maximum speed that each of the racers managed to achieve.
