The British manufacturer presented The Macallan Horizon – a collectible whiskey bottled in a unique container in a spiral “case”. As a sign of respect to the Macallan distillery, which provided the whiskey itself, six materials were used to make the bottle – the “six pillars” of its quality. These are copper, aluminum, glass, wood, genuine leather and the drink itself.
The glass bottle is framed by an aluminum structure and is framed by a custom-carved Bentley Crown Cut walnut veneer sculpture. It is covered in finely crafted brown leather with a copper frame. Some of the copper used is melted down stills that were formerly used at Macallan.
The oak inserts in the lid are made from one of the six barrels in which the alcohol was aged. This is a single malt Scotch whiskey created by Macallan exclusively for its collaboration with Bentley. Stated notes of dried fruits, spices, oak and leather.
The distillery said Macallan Horizon was the most complex project they had undertaken, requiring constant contact with the Bentley team. For his sake, they had to go beyond the usual “vertical world” of stills and bottles, creating a horizontal format that refers to the grand tourers of the British brand.
