The Chinese branch of the brand shared photos of the five-door and revealed details about the technology. The focus is on the iDD rechargeable hybrid: it will switch to completely new technology, lose the gearbox, and buyers will be able to choose between two options for electric motors and traction batteries. In addition, Changan Uni-V will become even more aggressive, because the exterior design will change.
The easiest way to recognize the updated Changan Uni-V is by its radiator grille with triangular cells and the central location of the exhaust pipes. The design of the rims and bumpers has also changed, but there are no significant innovations in the interior: only higher-quality finishing materials are announced. However, both outside and inside the liftback has not yet become outdated.
The sportier appearance does not fit with the changes in technology: the “older” 2.0-liter turbo engine (233 horsepower, 390 Nm) is not yet available in the updated range. Regular Uni-V will be offered only with a 1.5 turbo engine (188 horsepower, 300 Nm) and a 7-speed robot. But hybrids will undergo reengineering: a scheme with a supercharged engine and a robotic gearbox will be abandoned in favor of an e-CVT system with a naturally aspirated generator as a generator and an electric motor.
Two options are announced: the basic Uni-V hybrid will receive a 190-horsepower electric motor (330 Nm) and a 9-kilowatt-hour battery; the range without activating the internal combustion engine will be up to 65 kilometers. For an additional fee, they will offer a version with a 215-horsepower (330 Nm) electric motor and a 19-kilowatt-hour battery with an electric autonomy of up to 136 kilometers. In both cases, under the hood is a 110-horsepower naturally aspirated 1.5-liter engine. In terms of dynamics, the new product is inferior to its predecessor, but the new hybrid should be more economical and cheaper.
