The main thing in Ferrari watches is not even the price, but the fact that they managed to set a record for creating the thinnest mechanical watch in the history.
Ferrari and the watch brand Richard Mille have presented an incredibly thin model of the mechanical watch UP-01 Ferrari – the thickness of their case is only 1.75 mm. In Soviet times, they said about the Polet watch, which was then fashionable, that their thickness was like that of two five-kopeck coins. In the case of the novelty, the thickness is like that of two bank cards.
Previously, the Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra was considered the thinnest watch in the world, but it is 0.05 mm thicker than the novelty.
Two (seemingly contradictory) things stand out about the Ferrari UP-01 model: the design is without any pretensions to jewelery beauty, and the price is $1.88 million. For comparison, the flagship 1000-horsepower SF90 Stradale hypercar costs four times less! They are asking for “only” $437,000.
The dial is quite small. The balance node is visible in the second small window. In general, ultra-thin watches do not look very flashy and seem fragile, but they are not – they can withstand loads with an acceleration of more than 5000 g.
Connoisseurs note important advantages: the insides are made of Grade 5 titanium. Moreover, the mechanism is an independent unit, not combined with the case. The movement is only 1.18 mm thick and weighs 2.87 g.
- Power reserve – 45 hours. Claimed water resistance is 10 meters.
- The weight of the watch itself is within 30 g. They have an integrated rubber strap.
- The UP-01 Ferrari watch will be limited to 150 pieces.
