Ford has unveiled the first ever off-road rally Mustang. The era of the Ford Mustang as a thoroughbred sports car ended in the 21st century when the American automaker decided to use the legendary name to expand the iconic model family into an electric crossover. The new Ford Mustang Mach-E became the first Mustang representative in history adapted for off-road – the conqueror of rough terrain was the new Ford Mustang Mach-E performed by Rally. The premiere of an unusual electric car was timed to the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The off-road rally crossover will be taken to the track for demonstration races by the pilot of the M-Sport Ford WRT factory team, Estonian Ott Tänak, who competes in the WRC Classic Rally Championship in the Ford Puma Rally1.
Specifications for the new Mustang Mach-E Rally have not been revealed. Judging by the images, in addition to the livery in the spirit of car camouflage, the crossover received a developed wing, new rally-style wheels, as well as additional optics and exposed towing eyes.
In the cabin, the changes were reduced to a special decor of the seats. It is promised that the new Ford Mustang Mach-E Rally will become a production model and go on sale in the US in the fall of 2023. Detailed information about the new product, including the cost, will be disclosed closer to the release of the electric vehicle on the market.
