After the presentation of the sedan of the same name, the Korean brand shared pictures of its five-door counterpart and confirmed that both body types will be offered in the United States. The new Kia K4 will become a “global” model and will replace the mid-size K3/Cerato/Forte in key markets. The positioning has changed: while the predecessor flirted with hot hatches, the new model is more of a cross-hatch with pronounced protective inserts.
The design of the five-door Kia K4 was shown using the example of the top version of the GT-Line with “sports” bumpers and low-profile wheels, but even this hatchback has sills, wheel arches and the lower part of the body kit covered with plastic. However, the solid front overhang, glossy decorative elements and low ground clearance hint: the new product is designed for good roads.
The Kia K4 hatchback is expected to go on sale after the sedan with a delay of several months. This means that both models will appear on the North American market before the end of the year. But South Korea will probably have its own engine range, and sales in the brand’s homeland may begin even earlier than in the USA.
