Lexus has unveiled the new generation GX SUV. It is strikingly different in design from the older LX and offers factory off-road tuning for the first time. The Overtrail version comes with 33-inch tires, electro-mechanical stabilizers that can release to improve wheel articulation, a rear differential lock and underbody protection. The engine is also new – a V6 3.4 biturbo engine paired with a ten-speed automatic.
The new Lexus GX is technically unified with the flagship LX, but the design of the cars is completely different. The style of the model is based on the dominance of horizontal lines, and the square body here perfectly emphasizes the off-road mood.
The angle of inclination of the front roof pillars has been changed, the distance between the front axle and the windshield has been increased (in English it is denoted by the term dash-to-axle, in our country it is the distance of prestige). The headlights and grille are positioned higher to reduce the risk of damage.
But the interior of the SUV conceptually repeats the current Lexus RX. The GX comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch center display and a 10-speaker audio system.
Salon can be six- or seven-seater. The set of options depends on the version, it can be a “winter package”, a projection screen, a digital key and a cooled box. 12 cup holders are scattered throughout the cabin, and five travel suitcases are placed in the trunk, if the third row is folded down.
Finally, the Safety System + 3.0 is standard on all SUVs. It allows the car to recognize signs, avoid pedestrians, steer away from sudden obstacles and stay in the selected lane. The G-Xs will be assembled at the Toyota plant in Tahara, Japan.
The start of sales is scheduled for early 2024. You can learn more about the new product from our separate article.
