The authoritative publication Consumer Reports, known for its reliability ratings, has published the top 10 new cars that it recommends purchasing in 2025. The leaders in the main market segments are named, with Japanese manufacturers dominating the list.
The most notable subcompact crossover is the Subaru Crosstrek, and the Forester model became the best among small SUVs. The Toyota RAV4 with a hybrid drive is noted as the leader in the segment of economical SUVs. Another hybrid Toyota, this time the Highlander, is recognized as the most worthy among mid-size crossovers. In the premium sector of this market, the Lexus NX and BMW X5 are singled out.
Among the various-sized sedans, the publication noted the Nissan Sentra and Toyota Camry, the main electric car of the year was named the Tesla Model Y, and the compact pickup truck – the Ford Maverick.
