BMW has started using an android robot. The innovative robot was developed by Figure, and its task is to assist employees of the enterprise on production lines. At the first stage, the humanoid machine is being tested at a site in the American city of Spartanburg. According to experts, the robot is capable of performing a wide range of tasks, including welding, as well as assembling and moving car parts.
Unlike most robots developed for use in car factories, Figure 02 has a high level of mobility and adaptability to external conditions. Thanks to machine learning, the android is able to safely interact with people in a production environment. At the same time, the use of neural network technologies allows the robot to learn in the process of performing tasks.
Currently, BMW has completed the first tests of the android at the enterprise. After revision, the company plans to use such robots to improve the efficiency and quality of production processes. In addition, robotic humanoids will allow the Bavarian brand to accelerate the robotization of the automotive industry.
