Mercedes-Benz EQXX drove from Riyadh to Dubai on one battery charge. Mercedes-Benz reported the third ever record mileage on a single battery charge for the Mercedes-Benz EQXX concept car, which took place in the Middle East. Starting from Riyadh, the capital and largest city of Saudi Arabia, the German electric car finished in the largest city of the United Arab Emirates – Dubai. How this run went and how the German company prepared for it can be found out in the official video.
The distance between the starting and final destination points was 1010 kilometers, but at the finish line the electric car’s batteries still had a reserve of energy – it could be enough for 309 plus kilometers.
Energy consumption during the run was 7.4 kilowatt-hours per 100 kilometers, which is equivalent to 0.83 liters per 100 kilometers for cars with internal combustion engines. The average speed was 79.4 kilometers per hour.
In the video, in addition to the actual trip from Saudi Arabia to the UAE, the engineers demonstrated the process of preparing for the run, working out its route, as well as how the electric car coped with the challenges – the problem was 34-degree heat, which forced the use of the climate control system all the way, and heavy traffic in cities along the way.
