The American company US Armor Group has presented a new work, which it positions as the fastest armored car on the planet. This is the Lucid Air in the super-powerful Sapphire version, which is equipped with composite armor and bulletproof glass. The electric car, which can withstand shots from handguns with .44 Magnum cartridges (for example, the Desert Eagle pistol), was estimated at a minimum of 475 thousand dollars, that is, almost twice the price of the standard Air Sapphire.
The Lucid Air electric sedan in the Sapphire version is equipped with three electric motors with a capacity of about 1250 horsepower and is capable of accelerating to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) in less than 2 seconds with a maximum speed of 330 km/h.
US Armor Group equips the electric car with lightweight ballistic glazing and composite inserts, which, according to the creators’ calculations, are five times lighter than steel, but 10 times more effective. Thus, the weight of the Lucid Air increases by only 175 kilograms, and, according to the manufacturer, the maximum speed of the sedan decreases only slightly – to 320 km/h.
In addition to protection from small arms, passengers of the electric car are protected from hacker attacks and attempts to hack electronics. In addition, US Armor Group announced the use of a certain system on the armored car that allows continuous scanning for the possibility of threats – including analysis of intelligence data. For an additional fee, the Air’s protection will be enhanced with more effective armor capable of withstanding grenades and fire from automatic rifles, gas sprayers, stun guns in door handles, and the like.
