Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new CLE coupe. The model will replace the two-door C and E-Class, and in 2024 the cabriolet of the same name will join it. Conceptually and technically, CLE repeats the new “tseshki” and “eshki”. From the younger one there is a chassis and interior, from the older one – an electronic filling with the latest version of the MBUX complex and AI assistants. The range of engines includes petrol and diesel units with a 48-volt system. A hybrid plugin will also appear, but a little later.

The Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupé and Cabriolet scheduled for next year will provide an alternative to the two-door C and E-Class that have departed. In fact, this is a return to the origins, the CLK model, because the format and positioning of the machines are in many ways similar. And the proportions of the CLE are typically Mercedes. A long wheelbase, strongly sloping A-pillars, a pronounced shoulder line and a slightly elongated rear overhang – this could easily be the successor to the C205. At the same time, there is decently more legroom for rear passengers, and the trunk can accommodate three golf bags.

As standard, the CLE is equipped with a passive suspension lowered by 15 millimeters. For a surcharge, electronically controlled shock absorbers and a thruster rear axle are offered, which reduces the turning radius from 11.2 to 10.7 meters. The range of engines includes units of the FAME family, and there is also an in-line “six” M 256 M (381 hp, 500 Nm) and a diesel “four” OM 654 M (200 hp, 440 Nm). All are complemented by a 48-volt system and are combined with a 9G-Tronic automatic. A full-fledged hybrid is still in the future – but work on it is already underway.

Inside, everything is like the top versions of the C-Class. In front of the driver is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, on the right is a 11.9-inch multimedia display. In addition, there is contour lighting with a choice of 64 colors and a Burmester audio system that supports Dolby Atmos surround sound technology and Spatial Audio. Exclusive to CLE, sport seats with a specific profile and a stylish nappa leather seat folding strap instead of the traditional lever.

The CLE coupe is the second model after the new E-Class to receive the latest version of the MBUX package. The electronic architecture supports 5G, music streaming, voice control and offers more than 20 artificial intelligence comfort functions. The machine will remind you of a scheduled call or birthday, as well as lay out a route in navigation to a frequently visited place in advance. Another feature will be the ability to install third-party applications. Vivaldi browser, TikTok, Zoom and Angry Birds announced. The start of CLE sales in Europe is scheduled for November. The convertible will be delayed a little, although its appearance has already been revealed.
