Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new GLB compact crossover, which will initially be sold only as a fully electric model.
The new model’s styling is consistent with all new models from the German brand. For example, from the front, it’s reminiscent of the CLA, which also lost its internal combustion engine and became an electric or hybrid model.
The GLB, in particular, features similar headlights with Mercedes-Benz star-shaped lighting elements. The crossover’s shape remains the same-it’s slightly more square than the GLC and GLA models. At the rear, however, there’s a single lighting unit, which also features the Mercedes-Benz stars.

Mercedes-Benz has currently announced two versions of the crossover: the GLB 250+, which features a single electric motor on the rear axle producing 268 hp. Consequently, it has rear-wheel drive. This version has a claimed range of up to 630 km.
There’s also a version with two electric motors-the GLB 350 4Matic. This car has all-wheel drive and a total output of 349 hp.

Mercedes-Benz says a more affordable entry-level electric model will join the GLB lineup next year, followed by a hybrid version with a 48-volt motor, which will be available in three powertrain configurations – front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

The crossover‘s interior is completely new. Its highlight is a huge screen divided into three sections – the instrument cluster, the central screen, and the front passenger display. The infotainment system is powered by the fourth-generation MBUX system, which incorporates artificial intelligence from Microsoft and Google.
