Toyota has updated the Highlander crossover and added a “black” version. The Highlander entered the 2024 model year for the North American market. With the update, it lost its basic configuration, as a result of which the initial cost increased by 2.7 thousand dollars – now prices start at 39.1 thousand dollars. The number of options has increased, new body colors and a “black” version of Nightshade with darkened decor have appeared, which will cost at least 41.7 thousand dollars.
The appearance of the Nightshade version has become the most noticeable update of the crossover in the 2024 model range. This Highlander differs from the standard one in black nameplates, darkened optics, 18-inch black wheels and black exterior mirror housings. The interior is also made in dark shades, while gray inserts are available in other trim levels. Among other innovations, the model has acquired an electric tailgate, which can now be opened hands-free.
In the USA, the crossover is available in two versions: with a turbo-four with a capacity of 269 horsepower and a hybrid installation based on a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated engine. The drive can be front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and simpler versions have a clutch on the rear axle, and those that are more expensive have a Dynamic Torque Vectoring AWD all-wheel drive system with individual clutches for connecting the rear wheels.
