EV6 is the Korean company’s first all-electric car. The new crossover is built on the alliance’s E-GMP electric platform (shares it, for example, with Hyundai’s first electric car, the Econiq5). In addition, the EV6 was created as part of the new KIA design concept. It is called Opposites United (that is, “united opposites”).
The company also changed its logo. If earlier KIA models were characterized by Tiger Nose (“tiger nose”), now there will be a full-fledged Digital Tiger Face (“digital tiger face”). Well, let’s see how it will be implemented. As for the EV6, the crossover turned out to be swift, squat, streamlined. Aggressive front optics with matrix running lights, a conceptually solved rear end, where the lights are represented by a narrow strip stretching across the entire rear end and even enveloping the wheel arches. Stylish wheels complete the futuristic look of the electric crossover.
Thanks to the layout with batteries placed in the floor and compact electric motors, the developers managed to increase the wheelbase. This figure is 2900 mm for a medium-sized crossover. In length, the car stretched for 4680 mm, its width is 1880, and its height is 1550 mm. The standard luggage compartment has a volume of 520 liters. If you fold the backs of the second row, it will already be 1300 liters. There is also a niche in the front – there are 50 liters in the case of rear-wheel drive and 20 liters if the car is equipped with all-wheel drive.
A total of five versions of EV6 have been proposed. The first is with rear-wheel drive and a 170 hp engine. and 350 Nm, 58 kWh battery. With the same battery, an all-wheel drive car is offered. Here comes the motor on the front axle. The total power of the installation is 235 hp. and 605 Nm. Mileage – 380 or 400 km. Then two versions with a more capacious battery of 77.4 kW / h. Rear-wheel drive with a 228 hp engine. and 350 Nm, and the all-wheel drive already produces 325 hp. and 605 Nm. Power reserve – 510 or 490 km. The top version is thoroughly charged. The world has never known such a powerful KIA. The front motor is 218 hp, the rear engine is 367. In total, an impressive 585 hp is obtained. and 740 Nm! There is an imitation of a rear differential lock, acceleration time to hundreds of 3.5 seconds, maximum speed – 260 km / h. The battery here is at the same 77.4 kW / h. Mileage – 400 km. The curb weight of electric cars is from 1800 to 2000 kg.
The interior of the electric car tries to keep up with the exterior. Fashionable architecture, recycled plastic materials. In the front panel, in modern fashion, two monitors of 12.3 inches each are installed. The first is tidy, the second is the media system. There is a projection system on the windshield that duplicates the main messages. There is a set of shortcut keys to control music, climate, navigation. The car has a socket for connecting consumers up to 3.6 kW with the possibility of recharging another electric car. The floor in the cabin is flat. The car in the optional GT Line version can be supplemented with a sports body kit, retuned suspension and steering. You can recharge the car from fast terminals for 80 volts and a power of 350 kW. They promise that in 10 minutes it will be possible to download energy for a run of up to 100 km, and an 80 percent battery charge can be achieved in 18 minutes. Can be connected to 400-volt terminals and household sockets. On the move, you can select three levels of regeneration when braking and try to control acceleration with a single pedal in i-Pedal mode. The EV6 is capable of self-parking and lane driving without driver assistance.
