The new Range Rover Sport has been turned into an armored car for the first time. Workshop Armormax on its YouTube channel showed on video the first prototype of a third-generation bulletproof SUV. The prototype is booked in class B4, but a more serious version with B6 protection is on the way. The target audience for a private workshop will be clients from South America and Africa with an unfavorable crime situation.
The demo armored Range Rover Sport is practically indistinguishable from the original model: you can see the protection only by peering into the glass bases. The bulletproof SUV retained the air suspension, a panoramic sunroof, the usual power windows and low-profile wheels, but the level of armor is low: the B4 class will save you from shelling from a revolver or a Magnum pistol.
An SUV protected according to the B6 standard has not yet been shown, and here the developers are unlikely to get off with little blood. In order for the Range Rover Sport to withstand the shelling of rifle and machine gun ammunition from a Kalashnikov assault rifle, you will have to sacrifice some of the options, strengthen the wheels and suspension, and also rely on an armored capsule. Probably, the most powerful SUV with a V8 engine will have to be taken as a basis, because the curb weight will increase significantly.
