XPeng‘s air transport division, now called Aridge, has released the first photos of the A868 project. This is the next iteration of a passenger-carrying copter, boasting increased range. Flight tests of prototypes have already begun.
The Aridge A868 features an elongated fuselage, complete with winglets, a tail, and several propellers. It cannot propel itself on the ground, but it has vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, eliminating the need for a runway.
The new model’s cabin can accommodate up to six people. Specifications of the A868’s powertrain have not yet been released, but it is known to be hybrid and capable of propelling the copter to speeds of up to 360 km/h (220 mph), with a range of over 500 kilometers (310 miles).
