A limited edition Dark Flame version debuted in China, which is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the model. It is based on a Chinese-made BMW X5 with a “limousine” rear door: the wheelbase is stretched by 13 centimeters. The anniversary version differs from the original in its bright factory decor: golden and anthracite exterior details are combined with a dark body.
Chinese customers are not indifferent to external attributes, so the anniversary special version can be called kitschy. Black metallic with a blue tint is combined with a dark gold frame of the radiator grille, similar moldings and overlays on the air ducts in the wings and bumper. The 22-inch wheels and exhaust pipes are dark in color without chrome.
The interior of the commemorative special edition features expensive leatherette with gold stitching, with the name of the special edition Dark Flame on the seat backs, dashboard and central tunnel; the projection lighting is done in the same spirit. The equipment is rich: almost all options are active in the configurator – there is air suspension, M-Sport package and other “chips”. But the technology has not changed: with a 3.0 petrol engine (380 hp, 520 Nm) it is combined with an 8-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive.
You will have to overpay about 14 thousand dollars for a special SUV in China: the special edition costs from 116.5 thousand dollars. 1000 copies will be made. The same number of anniversary cars will be assembled for Canada, and another 250 copies are intended for the USA.
