The Wagoneer S is Jeep’s first electric SUV for the US market and the second model to be based on Stellantis’ STLA Large architecture after the new Dodge Charger. The battery capacity here is 100.5 kilowatt-hours, and express charging from 20 to 80 percent takes only 23 minutes, whereas electric vehicles of this class usually require at least half an hour.
The Wagoneer S Launch Edition is powered by a twin-motor 608-horsepower engine that delivers a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds-making the Wagoneer S faster not only than the Tesla Model Y Performance, but also the 707-horsepower Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk.
In terms of dimensions, the Wagoneer S is slightly inferior to the Wagoneer with an internal combustion engine: it is slightly shorter and closer in size to the short-wheelbase Grand Cherokee. At the same time, the battery-powered SUV looks more dynamic and premium than the “square” Wagoneer due to the slightly sloping roofline, narrow LED strips and a decorative cap in place of the radiator grille, which, however, is made in the recognizable style of the brand. In general, the exterior design is associated more with the Range Rover than with other Jeep models. The company says the SUV has a drag coefficient of 0.29, better than any other Jeep.
In the cabin, four touch screens are installed on the front panel – a tidy system, a multimedia system display, another display for the passenger and a touchscreen for controlling the climate system. The list of equipment includes a McIntosh audio system with 19 speakers, a multifunction steering wheel with physical buttons and a panoramic roof with a sunroof. The SUV will also have a system for selecting driving modes, including presets for snow and sand, as well as a set of electronic assistants.
