A list of electric crossovers that are best not to buy has been compiled. British edition of What Car? asked owners of battery-powered cars about the problems they had encountered over the past two years, as well as the cost and duration of repairs. 21 thousand people took part in the study. They shared their impressions of 178 electric crossovers under five years old. In the end, the Vauxhall (Opel) Mokka Electric was recognized as the most problematic, and the Ford Mustang Mach-E as the most reliable.
The title of the most unreliable electric crossover went to the Vauxhall Mokka Electric, aka Opel outside the UK. Over two years of ownership, 40 percent of its owners encountered problems with the battery, 27 percent complained about the media system, and 13 percent each complained about the motor, electrics and steering.
The Mokka was followed by the Jaguar I-Pace, with 42 percent of owners reporting problems. Repairs in most cases (58 percent) took more than a week, and 35 percent of the cars were not operational.
In third place is the large electric SUV Audi Q8 e-tron, which caused trouble for 40 percent of owners. In 25 percent of cases there were electrical defects, in 15 percent – in the multimedia system. A third of the owners waited more than a week for the renovation to be completed.
The most reliable electric SUV turned out to be the Ford Mustang Mach-E: no one complained about it. It was slightly inferior to the BMW iX3, whose only problem area is the infotainment system. The Tesla Model Y closes the top three, 12 percent of whose owners found electrical and media system faults.
