The premium brand Genesis presented its latest concept called X Gran Equator at the New York Auto Show. This is the first conceptual development of the Korean brand, focused on adventure trips beyond the asphalt. The concept is distinguished by a new approach to the body design and an original retro-style interior. No serial prospects have been indicated yet, but spy photographers have previously noticed a Genesis SUV with a similar angular body shape during tests.
According to the official statement, the X Gran Equator is the first Genesis designed for operation in extreme conditions. As part of this purpose, the signature design style has been rethought: the concept, due to its almost rectangular body with inclined rear pillars, looks unusually brutal for the brand, while the X Gran Equator has retained smooth transitions between body panels and characteristic lighting equipment in the form of parallel lines.
The prototype’s off-road purpose is also emphasized by the bumper-mounted lighting, deep-tread tires, roof rails, and a split rear door.
The X Gran Equator’s interior is filled with massive details, including a steering wheel with large spokes, a central tunnel with handrails, and a console separating the rear seats. The control buttons and steering column switches are also deliberately large. The instrument panel, located in the center, looks like four separate analog dials.
