Hyundai has been teasing the sixth generation of the Verna, also known as the Accent in many markets, including South Korea, for a while now. However, the model was recently caught undisguised on public roads, revealing its revamped styling ahead of its scheduled debut on March 21st.
The Accent / Verna is a budget-friendly, subcompact-sized four-door sedan that slots below the Elantra in the Hyundai range. As you can see in these shots that were shared on a number of Korean forums including Bobaedream, the sixth-generation model adopts Hyundai’s sharp-looking “Sensuous Sportiness” styling language, featuring full-width LED lighting units on both ends and surfacing typical of the brand. Similar to the redesigned 2024 Sonata that was recently captured undisguised as well, front end features a massive grille that is connected to the side bumper intakes and houses the lower part of the split headlights.
From the profile, the lines of the rear fenders are reminiscent of the Tucson, giving the car a sculpted look, although the alloy wheels appear to be rather small for its body. The greenhouse and steeply raked rear glass are inspired by the larger Elantra, while at the back, the focus is on the futuristic full-width taillights, pronounced shoulders, and sharp edge of the trunk. The Accent lettering on the trim piece suggests that the model was spotted in its home country country, as the Indian-spec model comes with Verna lettering on the same spot.
The Hyundai Verna is already available for pre-order in India, where it will compete with the likes of the VW Virtus, Skoda Slavia, soon-to-be facelifted Honda City, and aging Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. According to local media reports, production of the model has already started in the Chennai plant in India. It’s worth noting that Hyundai discontinued the Accent from the US market last year, and it seems highly unlikely that the model will make a return.
