New York City police stopped a Turkish delegation, along with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the street, Sky News reports. Security forces prevented the Turkish representatives from crossing the road because it was blocked to allow passage of a motorcade, presumably carrying US President Donald Trump.
The delegation was forced to wait behind metal barriers. Halk TV reports that the Turkish president was then stuck in a traffic jam on the streets of New York.
The day before, French President Emmanuel Macron was forced to walk to the French embassy in New York due to a similar incident. Politicians gathered in New York for the 80th UN General Assembly, where Donald Trump delivered his first address since returning to the White House.
