Geely has demonstrated the resilience of its Aegis Gold Brick battery pack installed in the Galaxy E5 electric crossover in a demonstration test. The battery was subjected to extreme mechanical stress: a 36-ton ZTZ-59D tank repeatedly drove over it, creating a load that exceeded the requirements of China’s updated national standards by 80%.
The test simulated one of the most severe scenarios – severe external compression and deformation of battery pack elements. The pressure was 1.8 times higher than the established standard load. However, the battery retained full structural integrity. There were no signs of swelling, electrolyte leakage, fire or thermal runaway – either at the level of individual cells or in the battery as a whole.
