Most car manufacturers prefer to demonstrate the safety of their batteries in the traditional way – through laboratory crash tests and PowerPoint slides, where engineering solutions are analyzed in detail. Xiaomi took a different approach – and did it with the company’s inherent clarity and show element.
In a recently published video, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun throws a watermelon from the sixth floor. But not a simple one. The fruit is covered with a special protective coating – this is exactly what is used in the design of the battery of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra electric sedan. Despite falling from a great height, the watermelon remained intact. In the frame, it looks more like a matte ball, but still: inside, the company claims, is the same sweet berry. Although no attempts to cut or eat it are shown in the video. “Even an axe won’t cut it,” comments Lei Jun, hinting at the strength of the material.
