The BYD concern presented an upgraded version of one of its flagship sedans, the Han. The model, as before, will be offered in a hybrid and fully electric version, but both have undergone serious improvements – the hybrid has become longer-range, and the electric car now charges faster. Despite this, the price of the Han EV has not increased, and the gasoline-electric version has become cheaper.
The updated BYD Han received minor changes in design, which did not affect the dimensions – almost 5 meters in length with a 2920-mm wheelbase. The hybrid modification has a fifth-generation DM power plant based on a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine, with which the sedan can use 3.8 liters of fuel even with a discharged battery and accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. On electric traction, the four-door will travel 125 kilometers with a total power reserve of 1,350 kilometers.
At the same time, all versions of the electric car, except for the basic one, were transferred to an 800-volt architecture, and the old batteries were replaced with new batteries, safer and more durable. The charging time to 80% was reduced to 30 minutes. The power reserve, depending on the battery, will be from 506 to 701 kilometers. So far, only the power unit of the most affordable modification is reported – this is one motor on the front axle with 204 hp and 310 Nm, allowing acceleration to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.
It is also known that for some top-end trim levels of the updated sedan, BYD will offer a lidar and the latest version of its own semi-autonomous control system. It is expected that improvements and price reduction will contribute to sales of the Han family, which have been falling lately.
