Canadian manufacturer Inkas has unveiled an armored version of the Land Rover Defender, the Octa, equipped with the most powerful engine available for the model. The Defender can now protect against fire from a 7.62-caliber assault rifle and the simultaneous detonation of two hand grenades.

The Defender is equipped with comprehensive ballistic protection, but all of its components are installed discreetly: the only clues to the SUV‘s new design are the company’s logos affixed in certain places. In addition to armor plates, the vehicle is equipped with laminated glass, reinforced door hinges, and puncture-resistant wheels. Attacks through door joints are eliminated, and the fuel tank is equipped with its own armored capsule.

Inkas traditionally offers a variety of additional protection features, including air filtration and night vision systems, as well as a roof escape hatch. Options include strobe lights, emergency flashers, additional video cameras, and a hands-free phone function.
The Octa version of the Land Rover Defender was introduced last summer. This SUV is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 tuned to 635 hp and can reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4 seconds. The Octa also features a modified chassis. In the US, prices for the most powerful Defender start at $158,300.
