Lexus has unveiled an upgraded version of the IS sedan in Japan. The four-door has had its exterior redesigned, its suspension and steering mechanism reconfigured, and it has been given more technology in the cabin. At the moment, updates have only been announced for two versions: thus, the number of power units available for the sedan has been halved.

The sedan retained the architecture of the front end with a trapezoidal radiator grille, but overall, the IS’s appearance has changed significantly. The grille itself has received clearer and more geometric outlines, the front bumper looks stricter, although it still has side air intakes. A new spoiler has been designed for the trunk lid.
Among the smaller changes is an expanded color palette of the body, new 19-inch wheels, and the ability to paint the brake calipers red. The design changes added 10 millimeters to the length of the sedan, other dimensions remained the same.

The upgraded variable-ratio steering mechanism has been equipped with a new electric booster, and the suspension now uses different adaptive shock absorbers designed to provide more precise control. The main change in the interior is the new displays with a diagonal increased to 12.3 inches.

The updated Lexus IS, as far as can be judged from the official statement, will be produced only in the IS 300h and IS 350 versions in mono- and all-wheel drive versions. Thus, for example, the five-liter V8 has been excluded from the range. Sales of the new product will start at the beginning of next year, and not only in Japan, but also in a number of other countries.
